Dish from the Clairefontaine earthenware factory (Bourgogne Franche Comté), founded in 1804.
Estampille RS pour Jean-Baptiste Rigal et Jules Sanejouand, alors associés à la direction de la faïencerie (entre 1860 et 1885)
Around 1875, the arrival of a decorator from Sèvres, Victor Ameline, corresponds to a period of expansion of production: opaque porcelains, slips, shade-enamels, fine earthenware.
The Clairefontaine earthenware factory was rewarded at the 1878 World's Fair for its collection of majolica enamel items and the octagonal Indiana table service. Between 1876 and 1879, the factory supplied white earthenware (non-decorated baked cookies) for Nancy artists Charles and Emile Gallé.
