About 1878

Plates coming from the faience factory of Clairefontaine (Burgundy Franche Comté) founded in 1804.
Period of manufacture: 1875-1878, Jules Sanejouand period (The JS of the stamp with the marine anchor)
Around 1875, the arrival of a decorator from Sèvres, Victor Ameline, marked a period of expansion of production: opaque porcelains, barbotines, enamels, fine earthenware.
The Clairefontaine faience factory was awarded a prize at the 1878 Universal Exhibition for its collection of majolica enamelware and the octagonal Indiana dinner service. Between 1876 and 1879, the factory supplied white earthenware (undecorated fired cookies) for the Nancy artists Charles and Emile Gallé.
